“Sustainable” in marketing

Recital 10 and the Danish Consumer Ombudsman guidance

According to recital 10 of Directive (EU) 2024/825, “sustainable” claims cannot rest on environmental performance alone. The Danish Consumer Ombudsman does not recommend sustainability claims and states they need a life-cycle basis that also covers social and economic aspects (guidance of 4 September 2026).
